The Reads Reshaping My Rhythms (and a Gift to Share)
As a Christian mom, “soft living” and “slow living” are not aesthetics I follow because they are trendy.
For me, these are lifestyles born out of a conscious choice to create consistent and sustainable daily rhythms based on intention and connection.
While there are elements of beauty and warmth that make for idyllic TikTok videos, these rhythms are not empty trends. They can be biblically rooted when Jesus is at the center.
Two books that have been shaping this process for me right now are:
Lift Your Eyes by Whitney Newby — an encouraging devotional with gentle tips for living softly and seeking God in the mundane and the mess.
Habits for the Sacred Home by Jennifer Pepito — a practical guide that draws on the lives of Christian women, past and present, to help us create sacred, sustainable rhythms at home.
I wish I would have found both of these books earlier in my Christian walk and especially during the hardest parts of burnout. Now, as I continue rebuilding my life in a soft, God-honoring way and learning to romanticize motherhood by finding beauty in the messy and the ordinary, these books have become vital companions.
